The Pearl River Valley Water Supply District (the District) has a variety of recreational activities available throughout the Reservoir area. Learn about outdoor recreation and amenities available to District visitors.
Boating
The Ross Barnett Reservoir is the 33,000-acre impoundment of the Pearl River. The main lake which amasses approximately 24,000 acres provide a great opportunity for boating sports including skiing, jet skiing, cruising and more. The remaining 9,000 acres provides the perfect environment for paddleboarding, kayaking, animal watching and fishing. Camping
Whether a weekend trip or month-long staycation, the District has a some of the finest recreational destinations in the Southeast. The District has five unique recreational parks that bring some of the comforts of home to the great outdoors including swimming pools, playgrounds, tennis courts, TV recreation rooms and more. Fishing
Whether an amateur fisherman or seasoned expert, the Ross Barnett Reservoir is the perfect location to drop a hook. Fed by the Pearl River, the Reservoir is home to a variety of sport fish including bass, crappie, bream, gar and more. You may even try your hand at landing a giant catfish. Hunting
Central Mississippi is home to a variety of sport game like deer, migratory birds and even alligators. Hunting is subject to the limits and regulations set forth by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries & Parks (MDWFP) with additional safety regulations added for Pearl River Valley Water Supply District territory. Parks & Rentals
The District is home to three recreational day-use parks. To meet the growing interests of Reservoir visitors, our parks boast their own unique menu of activities and amenities including a dog park at Old Trace Park and Bobby Cleveland Park at Lakeshore as well as disc golf at Pelahatchie Shore.
